How to report an emergency.
(1) Telephone numbers for emergency calls are as follows:
- Police 110
- Fire,Sudden illness,Accidents 119
- Please do not panic, report accurately. The calls are free of charge.
(2) Useful Japanese for reporting emergencies.
- 110 Dorobo desu. Kootsuu jiko desu. Hanzai ni aimasita.
- 119 Kaji desu. Kyuukyuu desu.
(3) Information necessary when reporting.
- Location: The place is xxx.
- Things in sight: I see xxx near by.
- Name: My name is xxx.
(4) How to report.
- Reporting through a public telephone.
Pick up the telephone receiver and push the emergency button, then
dial either 110 or 119.
In case you use the emergency call device,
pick up the telephone receiver and dial the number on the device.
In such cases, no coins nor telephone card are necessary.
- Report from your residence.
Pick up your telephone receiver and dial either 110 or 119.

You are advised to try as much as possible to use your house or public phone. |
