National health insurance.

The national health insurance is a medical insurance that patients only require to bear partial medical expenses (30%, 20%, 10 %). Patients can receive medical treatment without concerns.

(1) Eligibility

People have registered the alien registration, and duration of stay in Japan is one year or more, or for those who stays for less than one year but is permitted to stay for a year or over.
For those who are not covered by the health insurance system by their employer is required to join the national health insurance system.

(2) How to join.

Apply at your local city hall with your certificate of alien registration and passport.

Please report to your local city hall in following situations:

  • When you are covered or terminated by the health insurance of the company.
  • When a child was born.
  • When you leave Japan.
  • When you leave Tsu City.
